Some security professionals feel safer managing security in-house. But because of the considerable investments in network and security infrastructure and highly skilled security experts that good cloud and MSS providers have made, many of their security offerings are more comprehensive and secure than what many organizations can deploy on-premises. Cloud and MSS solutions provide access to the same security features and benefits as on-premises solutions without the capital investment or staff resource drain. Others simply prefer in-house control, a legitimate preference for those that have the resources to do so.
The availability of comprehensive managed security and cloud-based offerings presents an opportunity for government agencies to improve their security by augmenting some, if not all, security services.
